Mother’s Day 2020

Mother’s Day 2020

I hope all the Mama’s out there had an amazing Mother’s Day! Navigating holidays during quarantine has been interesting to say the least. But one cool thing is that it makes you think outside of the normal routine! It makes you become creative during such a time of need.

I am extremely thankful I was able to spend the day with my mom to celebrate how amazing she is! My parents live in South Jersey. I wanted to take a few minutes to recap what we did this weekend, because we had such a great time and would be the perfect day, even if we weren’t in quarantine.

  • We started the morning was a delicious breakfast casserole. Linking a similar recipe here. Breakfast casseroles are great because you can prep them the night before and then day of you just need to pop them in the oven! My mom recently sent me a recipe for a caprese version that I plan to try soon!
  • Second was MOM-osas!
  • Next, we headed over to one of the cutest coffee shops nearby, Evermore Coffee Roasters. I did a blog post on them a few weeks ago, you can check it out here.
  • A big lunch was on the game plan for the afternoon. My dad had picked up catering from Due Amici’s a local Italian restaurant. They currently have an amazing special $40 for dinner for 4. Salad, Pasta, and Chicken all of your choosing. Not to mention it comes with Garlic Knots and Cannolis. Linked their menu here.
  • Then, the next thing on the agenda was at home Mani Pedis! We both used the cutest color from OPI- Tickle My France-y.
  • A quick pit stop to stock up on the Vino.
  • Next it was off to enjoy the warm weather in my moms back yard with a few visitors! My cousin Sharon and her Husband Brandon came over for a little Happy Hour.
  • Would the night have been complete without a Bonfire?
  • My specialty – Charcuterie was next on the menu.
  • Last, but not least, we ended the night with ice cream from Friendly’s.

All things considered with COVID-19, we had a pretty amazing Mother’s Day!

Mother’s Day Ideas in Quarantine

Mother’s Day Ideas in Quarantine

Mother’s Day is just 4 days away and if you are still deciding on what to do for Mother’s Day (like me!) here are a few suggestions for if you are able to see your mom in person. If you are unable to see your mom during quarantine I totally understand! Feel free to take a look at my blog post on Virtual Mother’s Day ideas.

Ideas for hanging out with mom in person:

  • Support a local coffee shop. Maybe your mom has a local favorite, or you can suggest one. Make sure you splurge to get mom a croissant to go with her oat milk latte.
  • Create a floral arrangement! Head to the grocery store and pick up a few bunches of flowers and design floral arrangements together. If you are in need of a vase I actually just picked up 2 cute ones at the dollar store last week.
  • Cook for her! Your mom deserves a day off from cooking. Kick her out of the kitchen and get to work.
  • Do a craft together! The last time I hung out with my mom we did bleach tie dye and we baked cookies and it was a blast!
  • Have a wine tasting. Pick up a few bottles of wine and do a wine tasting together and make sure to pair it with a cheese board!
  • Go for a walk. I love walking by the water with my mom and being able to enjoy each other’s company.
  • Give your mom a manicure! She deserves it! We have all been missing our nail salons. Give mom the treat of feeling like she’s back in the salon.
  • Have a picnic! Set up a blanket and bring her favorite foods. This is a great option if you plan to do take out!
  • Decorate her front door! Show her how much you care by shouting it out loud to all the neighbors! You could pick up hanging florals, a balloon arch, garland, the list goes on and on!

Virtual Mother’s Day Ideas

Virtual Mother’s Day Ideas

As Mother’s Day is starting to look a little different this year. I thought it would be great to share with you guys a few ideas to make sure Mom still has an amazing day all about her!

All of the suggestions below are “Virtual” ideas where you can connect with your mom for Mother’s Day and “hang out” online. Zoom or FaceTime have been my two favorites over quarantine.

  • Virtual Brunch! A zoom date, with all the fixings. If you live close enough to your mom you can drop off brunch to her. If you don’t, you can order your mom brunch to be delivered to her house. ps. Make sure there is bubbly for those Mother’s Day Mimosas.
  • DIY Candle Making Kit. Send one to your house and one to your moms house. You can both make your candles over zoom together and still be able to enjoy the time spent together. I linked an option from a local company, KSM Candle Co. in Baltimore.
  • Terrrium Building Kit. Linked here a kit I found on Etsy that you and your mom can create separately from near or far.
  • Virtual Cookie Baking! Hop on zoom, and you both can make your favorite recipe, and then ship a dozen to each other when you are done.
  • Wine Glass Painting. Ship both you and your mom supplies to paint wine glasses together.
  • Floral Bouquet Building. Reach out to your local florist to see if they offer bundles of blooms and you can build a beautiful arrangement with you mom.
  • Dinner Date! Order take out to be delivered to both of you from your mom’s favorite restaurant!
  • Complete a puzzle together. You could even have a race on who could finish first.
  • Get a virtual taro card reading.
  • Cook a new recipe together, but separate. Follow the same recipe online and enjoy! I would recommend trying a recipe from my friend JZeats. I linked her blog here.
  • Make craft cocktails, sip, relax and enjoy.
  • Virtual Spa Day. Mani/Pedis and Face masks seems like a good plan to me. Ship your mama a new nail polish color and enjoy girl talk and an at home spa day!
  • Virtual Yoga Class. There are a ton of classes offered virtually through YogaWorks!

Pick one or pick them all! I would love to hear in the comments below what your plans are for Mother’s Day!
