Review:

On our quest to discover new and exciting coffee shops, Kate and I visited Artifact Coffee this past Friday 4/17. It is in the Hampden neighborhood right by Woodberry Kitchen . Artifact is know for Counter Culture (great beans for great baristas). Kate and I ordered our coffee on their website which was very convenient. As we arrived, we could see the beautiful stone building followed up by an instagram worthy interior. We both said we cannot wait to come back and take pictures inside. They also have locally brew beer and wine available for purchase as well. We did not pick any up this time but we definitely will in the future. As for the coffee… it was delicious! Kate and I really enjoyed our cold brew with oat milk. Next time I would like to try one of their unique seasonal drinks like their Lavender Mocha Latte. As we left we made sure to take a couple of picture (as we always do). Hope you enjoy!

Review:

A few weekends ago Tony and I visited Vent Coffee Roasters for the first time. They are operating on limited hours during COVID-19 and you can place your order online here. They recommend ordering 5-15 minutes ahead of time. If you have been following this series on my blog, you know that cold brew with a SF flavor is my go to. At Vent Tony and I ordered cold brew black and only added Splenda. It was by far the best cold brew we have ever had! We have been back a few times since our first visit because we fell in love with this coffee! I even put a gift card in Tony’s Easter Basket. The asctetic inside is super cute and modern. I can’t wait to go back after COVID and be able to hang out in such a cool space. The Barista’s there are incredible. They make you feel so welcome and are extremely genuine. Can’t wait to visit again soon.

COVID: #4 Friends and Family

COVID: #4 Friends and Family

What’s one thing that COVID-19 has made your more thankful for in your life?

  • I will definitely appreciate how special it is to see loved ones/family/friends. I can’t come home to see my family & friends at home because of this and it hurts!
  • It has made me thankful for my health. (Although I’m definitely not the healthiest) but I feel like being in good health has helped me not be as susceptible (even though I know young people have gotten it), but I was in one of the highest infected places (Madrid) when the outbreak started and came out fine 😂 so I’d definitely say I’m thankful to be a healthy young adult.
  • I’m thankful for the challenge of staying occupied!
  • Thankful for phones & being able to talk & FaceTime with family & friends. Social media as well to communicate with people all over the world.
  • This whole thing has made me so thankful for the house and yard that we have at our new place! It’s also really made me thankful for the ability to continue working at a time like this.
  • Having family close. I’m thankful for my husband, my daughter, and my son. Thankful for doing marathon craft and cooking weekends.
  • The health of our family and friends.
  • The little things. Going for a walk and getting coffee has become the new norm.

What was one fun thing you were able to do at home that you normally wouldn’t have done?

  • A fun thing would probably be deep cleaning. I hate cleaning But being cooped up in the apartment all day has made me clean and organize everything.
  • Is cooking a meal vs going out to eat a challenge? Not really – we are fortunate enough to have food, water, and a house to cook in. Cooking has become a luxury, a chance to get creative and try new things.
  • Is spending more time with my fiance a challenge? No – and we’ve had to be more intentional on how we spend our time together. Mid day dance parties when you’re feeling goofy, date nights in the dining room, supporting each other through stressful days that come and go, weekly Scrabble competitions (that have gotten REALLY intense).
  • Bud and I play games every other night. Even though we are together 24/7, we both really look forward to game nights. Something we will continue when this is finally over.
  • Poshmark Queen! I have been a Poshmark selling machine during quarantine.

Is there anything in life that you will appreciate more after COVID-19 is over?

  • I will appreciate being able to go out & be with people. Whether that’s going for a meal or a drink or adventuring.
  • Time with family and friends. We take for granted our social time, and this has certainly opened our eyes to how much we miss it!
  • Freedom.
  • We will appreciate going out to dinner even more.
  • We will appreciate traveling more. Really soak in every experience.
  • Being with Friends and Family.

Birthday Wonderland

Birthday Wonderland

For anyone that has to celebrate their Birthday in quarantine I definitely feel for you! You can’t go to dinner at your favorite restaurant. You can’t have drinks at your favorite cocktail bar. You can’t have a big get together with all of your friends. But its okay! We are in this together.

I just celebrated my Birthday on April 16th and I still had a BLAST! My husband created a Birthday Wonderland that was so perfect in every way!

Here are the FIVE things we did to make my birthday a blast!

  1. Decorations! Just because you can’t have anyone over doesn’t mean you shouldn’t decorate.
  2. Signature Cocktail! I made a Birthday Cake Cocktail. Yum!
  3. Ordered dinner for take out from an amazing restaurant and put it on real plates to make it seem like we were really there!
  4. Flowers! Because what birthday is complete without flowers!
  5. Zoom! We planned a virtual birthday party, full of cocktail sipping and games! We downloaded a party pack of jackbox games to play with friends!

Decorations: Shop them here

Check out a TikTok of the entire set up!

COVID: #3 Mental Health Tips

COVID: #3 Mental Health Tips

This is a special blog post with tips from a therapist, and amazing Friend, Myleah Diehl.

A few tips on how to focus on your mental health during COVID-19.

1. Focus on things that are within your control.

2. Keep yourself busy-do things you’ve been meaning to do but haven’t had the time.

3. Meditation. Try the Stay Calm app, it uses guided meditation. It’s the best known way to increase memory capacity.

4. Do what makes you happy! Organize your closet. Go for a walk. Bake!

5. Take this time to better yourself, do research, read books, continue your education, or whatever you are interested in.

COVID: #1 Baltimore Together

COVID: #1 Baltimore Together

How can you help during this time?

  • Stay home when you can.
  • Wash your hands.
  • Be kind to others. This is the most important of them all. It’s a stressful time, but it’s so key to remember everyone is going through this time. We are in this together.
  • Support local businesses. Order take out. Shop from your local retailers online.
  • Don’t be a hoarder at the grocery store! Get what you actually need, not enough toilet paper to get you through the next 7 years.
  • Thank your essential workers!

TikTok Trending: #1 Bleach Tie Dye

TikTok Trending: #1 Bleach Tie Dye

Starting a new series all about TikTok. If you are on TikTok you know there is always something new and trendy going on that is either a DIY or something TikTok made you buy. Sharing those here!

If you don’t watch TikTok that is totally okay! I will share with you all you need to know about the trend in my post.

Today I’m sharing with you the Bleach Tie Dye. It’s super easy!

What you need:

Steps:

  1. Take any old shirts that you want to tie dye. I chose a black shirt, a grey, and a pink. You can also buy cheap sweatshirts to do this with if you don’t have anything at home that you want to dye.
  2. Wet your shirts and ring them dry.
  3. Pinch the middle of the shirt, and swirl it, then rubber band the shirt. 3-6 rubber bands is enough.
  4. Spray with bleach. Make sure you go heavy! I thought I went really heavy, but some of my shirts I wish I went even more heavy on. (Learning for next time!)
  5. Let sit for 20 minutes
  6. Remove rubber bands
  7. Wash & Dry.
  8. Enjoy! 🙂

I was totally a fan of this TikTok trend and would recommend. I plan on doing it again soon! The sweatshirt in my photo below I actually did not like at all before I did this. The color was bland, I didn’t love how it fit, and I honestly only wore it one time. I had it in the donate pile but I was able to save it and make it a million times better than. After bleaching I cropped it and now the style and the fit is perfect!

Check out this link for my TikTok of the Bleach Tie Dye.

Have you tried this trend? Let me know what you think!

Review:

Last week Tony and I visited OneDo in Canton for the first time. It was there last day open before closing for COVID-19. They were doing 20% off of all drinks and they had a ton of merchandise for sale as well! It was super cute inside and I would love to go back when they re opening to work on my computer and enjoy the atmosphere. They didn’t have any SF flavors, so next time I might try a totally different drink.
